Job Description:
Technical Service specialist HD & Automotive role is responsible for providing technical advice and support, resolving technical issues, and ensuring consistent delivery of outstanding technical services for various heavy-duty and Automotive customers and prospects. Become Castrol’s technology ambassador securing close partnership with key customers, prospects and Distributors to drive top and bottom-line growth through providing onsite technical support, delivering services and develop new Customer value propositions. Support the sales team in prospect and pipeline management through leading value selling approach. The role acts as a key interface between Castrol’s products and services and its customers, with a strong focus on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
Acting and behaving according to Castrol Global Business Principles, Code of Conduct, HSE standards and policies.
Lead the creation and execution of the technical services plan for South Africa to accelerate growth in the focus sectors (Agriculture, Construction , Transport , OEMs and FWS)
Define and deploy Castrol’s heavy-duty technical offering in South Africa, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
Provide front line technical support to Key direct and indirect industrial customers and prospects, including problem solving, troubleshooting and application advice and coaching Castrol’s distributors’ technical team for all front-line technical support activities.
Deliver case studies, value improvement projects for key industrial accounts, and champion customer intimacy as a Castrol ambassador.
Conduct onsite inspections, audits and surveys for HD customers sites, applying leading reliability and condition‑monitoring methods, providing customers with valuable findings, recommendations and solutions.
Manage field trials, pilot new innovative technical services and coach technicians and distributor teams on the field on industrial applications and lubrication best practices.
Elevate technical capability across the sales, technical and marketing force through training and knowledge transfer.
Offer innovative, customer‑centric solutions while applying sound commercial judgment.
Handle customers technical complaints process, and manage technical helpdesk tasks.
Communicate technical issues clearly and manage cross‑functional alignment.
Foster innovation, resilience, and effective prioritization across multiple technical projects
About You
You are a customer-focused technical professional who enjoys solving complex equipment and maintenance challenges. You build strong relationships, communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, and combine technical expertise with commercial awareness.
Skills & Experience
Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience in industrial maintenance, lubrication, reliability engineering, or condition monitoring.
Strong knowledge of heavy-duty equipment and industrial lubrication applications.
Experience delivering technical training and supporting customers
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
Commercial acumen with the ability to assess financial and market impacts of technical decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability
to influence a wide range of stakeholders.
Conflict management and negotiation skills.
Creative and innovative mindset focused on continuous improvement.
Customer-centric approach with a strong service orientation.
