About the role

The Senior Credit and Trade Loan Analyst is accountable for performing high amount and sophisticated trade loan proposals, and credit reviews to support strategic business decision, by calculating and evaluating Trade Loans, preparing and submitting proposals for authorization, evaluating trade finance performance, and supporting the commercial evaluation. Accountable to perform credit activities for the designated customers portfolio to ensure trade debtor balances are tightly controlled and credit risk appraisal of new and existing customers is carried out adhering to the Credit Policy. The job holder should have a deep understanding of Castrol Credit Policy & Trade Loan policies and of the relevant systems and tools and manage/balance diverse demands from Senior Stakeholders within multiple countries. The Senior Credit and Trade Loan Analyst has a strong influence to enable business to reach their strategic goals in trade investments. The Senior Credit and Trade Loan Analyst acts as Subject Matter Expert to other CLTs in the area of Credit Risk and Trade Loan. Coach and develop members of the team from the technical and soft skills point of view and support the coordination of the team activities. In addition to these tasks, the Senior Credit and Trade Loan Analyst holds responsibility on leading the team on daily operations and has to support the line manager regarding report, projects, strategy.

In this role You will

Perform regular and event driven Credit Assessments and Trade Loan evaluations based on the Credit Policy, Trade Loan Policy, and BP DoA by:

• Perform Customer Due Diligence to understand the financial and commercial prospects of the customer
• Work together with sales to collect the vital financial documents from the customer for a timely evaluation of their creditworthiness
• Prepare, validate & submit trade loan proposals with credit appraisal for approval and ensure that they are aligned with BP financial guidelines (eg IRR, Credit Risk, DoA)
• Prepare high quality Credit Assessments, Authority to Negotiate (ATN) and Financial Memorandum (FM), submit for approval and ensure documentation in an appropriate manner
• Review and ensure that Trade Loan and Credit Risk data in local ERP and other relevant systems is correctly set up
• Use personal judgement and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges in trade loan evaluation, credit risk and performance management
• Investigate, plan and implement strategically effective and relevant methods to improve the deals and meet customer expectations
• Define the overall need and type of securities, coordinate with sales, verify customer and/or banks details on securities
• Take decision to block/ unblock customers from delivery
• Monitor customer’s portfolio regarding alerts, take the vital actions to avoid bad debts
• Proactively lead calls across different functions to ensure risk taken is counterbalanced by profitable return
• Regular meetings with the business to be involved in the developments on the market, the business strategies, customer needs etc.
• Be the first customer concern point for sophisticated and bigger challenges
• Act as point of control overseeing FM’s, Credit Assessment’s quality before further issue

Trade Loan and Credit Exposure Management, Monitoring, Forecasting

• be able to identify key, strategic or high risks related to trade investments and take actions together with the relevant participants.
• Evaluate and articulate the underlying delivery of actuals vs. the target (volume and Gross Margin) on a monthly basis and take action as per the Contract.
• Monitoring of credit exposure versus credit limit, delivery of Key Performance Indicators
• Take full ownership of the assigned Trade Loan and Credit portfolio, take part in decision making from commercial point of view together with senior participants (Sales, Finance& Credit management).
• Consolidate and prepare forecast of new TL payouts to be shared with management

Understand the business and drive execution by

• keep close contact to sales by attending and/or organizing regular meetings on Trade Loan and Credit Assessment reviews and be a business partner to balance the risk and enable the business
• Resolve internal & external queries and issues

Reporting by

• Perform various regular reporting activities and ad hoc reporting’s in an accurate and timely manner; Reconcile and validate Trade Loan accounts and be able to analyze and explain Trade Loan P&L impact.
• Provide timely inputs for the monthly Trade Loan Power BI report
• Create the Quarterly Trade Loan impairment calculations on regional level
• Preparation of regular, standard and also ad hoc management information (MI) for leadership team and other key participants that enables them to agree performance interventions, and are assured of an effective internal control environment

Leadership and Support

• Leading other Trade Loan and Credit Analysts on daily operations acting as first point of contact.
• Support Line Manager-Credit Risk and Trade Loan Team Lead in all projects, systems implementations, strategic topics and any ad hoc activities needed in daily operations.
• Coach the Team members, to build capabilities and develop competencies.
• Motivation of the Team by implementing a positive atmosphere based on BP behaviors and values initiating proper team events, trainings etc.

Partner management with all relevant people inside or outside of Credit cross FBT and cross business

• First contact person for business unit leaders within Finance and Business related to credit assessment and trade loan proposals.

Compliance with the relevant Trade Loan and Credit Policy, and QMS/EMS systems in FBT.

Identify risks / issues and mitigation plan related to Credit and Trade Loan processes.

Look for opportunities of improvements in execution and drive the implementation

Support with expert process and system knowledge in potential Transitions.

Take ownership, control and support system enhancements and resolution of incidents with SF Trade Loan Tool interface, BOT, SAP.

Project Management involvement & support

• Active involvement in any strategic, operations or system credit/trade loan related projects, transformations
• Support project teams with expert process and system knowledge

What You will need to be successful

• University Degree or equivalent experience preferred (in Economics or related fields) or other Graduation in Economics
• Proficiency in English, German or Italian is an advantage
• Broad credit analysis knowledge
• Credit Management experience in an international environment
• Credit management background gained in banking, financial services, or a blue-chip corporate credit environment
• Able to deal with sophisticated situations while maintaining the right balance of customer and business focus to drive performance improvements
• Assimilate data to identify key issues and aid decision making
• Able to produce consistently high-quality information within tight deadlines.
• Strong systematic and analytical skills coupled with project management
• Looks for ways to do things better, faster and more efficiently
• High understanding of the business requirements and strategy
• Capability to mentor and support junior colleagues and further develop Team capability
