About the Position
The Mechanical Project Facility Engineer is part of the Projects Design Engineering organization within the Chevron ENGINE center. This role provides mechanical design support to Chevron's Shale and Tight onshore assets and is responsible for supporting the analysis and development of mechanical engineering solutions for brownfield and greenfield projects. Additionally, this role provides remote technical support for operations, turnaround scope development, and various projects.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize Chevron and Industry Engineering Standards
- Use a minimum functional objective (MFO) approach and utilize variance process to challenge Chevron standards when appropriate.
- Demonstrated skilled proficiency in the design of separation and treatment, compression, gas dehydration, pipelines, metering and storage facilities for oil and gas operations. Experience providing support to operations is beneficial.
- Demonstrated skilled proficiency in sizing calculations for all major types of process equipment, hydraulics, pressure relief and PFD and P&ID development. Previous experience participating in detailed process/mechanical design activities, including oversight of an engineering contractor are desired.
- Ability to lead and co-ordinate technical troubleshooting efforts and work with cross functional teams. Able to partner with team members across the business (Technical, and Operations) to deliver business results collaboratively.
- Participating and contributing to safety reviews (HazOps, HazAn, etc.), as applicable
- Managing multiple project deliverables concurrent
- Provide guidance for technical inquiries, issue technical recommendations, provide equipment and system troubleshooting, improve engineering tools and support the development and improvement of mechanical engineering work processes.
Required Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of Oil & Gas or Petrochemicals industry experience in process design engineer and piping design engineering
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or civil engineering (B.E.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
- 3 years minimum on site-based facility experience
- Experience executing greenfield and/or brownfield projects in onshore, upstream, oil and gas facilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Knowledge: Design Management Understands facility design work processes, and procedures. Experienced in engineering facilities design as it relates to one or more of the following:
- Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Startup and Operations. Experience as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and CAD designers towards completing quality Engineering Design Packages/Feed packages while managing scope, costs, schedule, and risks. Understands facility design work processes, and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of system interfaces and systems engineering, project execution, CPMS processes and tools. Demonstrable knowledge of engineering design execution on past projects.
- Understands potential areas for cross-discipline and cross-functional gaps on capital projects. Demonstrable knowledge of engineering design execution on past projects
