What you'll do:
As Vice President within MUFG’s Credit Office for EMEA, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Group Head and Team Leads by contributing to the evolution of credit risk frameworks and monitoring portfolios across various sectors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve conducting thorough credit analyses using advanced methodologies, preparing insightful reports for both local and international stakeholders, and actively participating in ad-hoc projects designed to enhance risk criteria. You will be expected to keep abreast of market trends within your allocated sectors—sharing valuable information with your team—and support junior colleagues through knowledge-sharing initiatives. Success in this role requires you to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail when reviewing portfolio transactions, comply diligently with regulatory standards, and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels. By helping manage corporate client portfolios within the Energy sector and making informed recommendations on transactions, you will contribute significantly to MUFG’s vision of being the financial partner of choice.
Conduct comprehensive credit analysis of allocated sectors and products, including drafting detailed credit papers, applying rating methodologies, and preparing comparative statistics under senior management guidance.
Monitor and review existing portfolio transactions regularly, making well-considered recommendations regarding credit and rating decisions in line with internal policies.
Work on ad-hoc projects as directed by Group Head or Team Lead to set up or adjust risk criteria and policy, aiming to improve portfolio quality through collaborative efforts.
Follow market trends, developments in allocated sectors/products, EMEA countries, key players, and financial/legal structures; share insights with the team to foster communal knowledge.
Support the development of junior colleagues by sharing technical expertise and nurturing their growth within the team.
Prepare reports for Tokyo Head Office and European Headquarters as required, ensuring accuracy in creating materials for credit committees.
Comply fully with all regulatory and compliance procedures, demonstrating responsible behaviour in meeting internal policy requirements.
Actively participate in portfolio analysis and management activities to ensure early action on problematic assets.
Assist Group Head/Team Leads in directing the ongoing development of credit risk frameworks and early warning systems aligned with shareholder, client, and regulatory expectations.
Help manage a portfolio of corporate clients across the Energy sector by providing thoughtful recommendations to senior management on transaction-specific files.

In-depth knowledge of credit principles, risk management practices, products (including derivatives), and regulatory guidelines is crucial.
Proven ability to handle regulatory audits associated with credit functions demonstrates your dependability.

Excellent communication skills help you articulate complex ideas simply while maintaining transparency.
A Bachelor’s Degree is required; a Master’s Degree or equivalent qualification is preferred for added depth of expertise.
