The Role
Join a global operations team that supports the clearing and settlement of exchange traded futures and options on futures across Scotiabank’s business lines. As an Analyst, Exchange Traded Derivatives Operations, you will help maintain accurate books and records, support the full trade life cycle, and contribute to a strong control environment in a fast-moving capital markets setting.
This role is part of the Global Wholesale Operations Confirmations – ETD team and plays an important role in ensuring daily trade, position, cash, and collateral activities are completed accurately, on time, and in line with regulatory, policy, and procedural requirements.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Capturing, validating, and processing exchange traded derivatives transactions
- Completing trade, position, and cash reconciliations to support accurate books and records
- Supporting collateral management activities and related operational controls
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Support accurate and timely processing of exchange traded derivatives activity across the full trade life cycle, including trade capture, clearing, settlement, reconciliations, and collateral-related processes.
- Complete assigned daily operational tasks within established timelines and escalate exceptions, breaks, or processing issues in accordance with internal procedures.
- Perform trade, position, cash, and collateral reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and help identify root causes to reduce recurring issues.
- Maintain strong knowledge of operational procedures, system workflows, and control requirements to support consistent and compliant processing.
- Apply the Bank’s risk appetite, risk culture, and compliance expectations in daily activities and decision-making.
- Contribute to process improvements by providing observations and recommendations that strengthen controls, reduce operational risk, and improve efficiency.

Education, experience, and technical knowledge:
- 1–2 years of experience in exchange traded derivatives operations, or experience supporting a comparable capital markets asset class
- Knowledge of capital markets regulatory frameworks, market practices, clearing house policies, and exchange traded derivatives operations; knowledge of U.S. ETD regulations is an asset
- Understanding of accounting principles and practices related to exchange traded derivatives or an equivalent asset class
- Experience with capital markets books and records platforms such as GMI, RISC, XTP, ADP, Broadridge, or similar systems
- Knowledge of derivative exchange clearing applications such as CME Group FEC, ICE ECS/FEC, CDCC TMS, CDCC SOLA, or equivalent systems is an asset
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in finance, economics, business, accounting, or a related field
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or related securities coursework is an asset
