Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and domain-oriented Senior Software Engineer to join our investment management technology team. This is a specialized role requiring a unique blend of robust software engineering skills and deep functional expertise in Order Management Systems (OMS) and trading workflows.

The ideal candidate will not only be a proficient developer in Java or C# but will also understand the intricacies of the investment lifecycle, specifically working with Charles River IMS (CRIMS) or similar platforms. This role offers a strategic "foot in the door" to the investment management domain, providing significant exposure to complex trading workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications using Java or C# within an investment management context.

• Domain Integration: Implement and manage complex trading workflows, ensuring seamless integration between Charles River IMS (CRIMS) or other OMS platforms and downstream systems.

• System Integration & Data Flow: Build and manage robust integrations using APIs, Web Services, and messaging middleware (MQ, Kafka) to support real-time and batch trading activities.

• Data Management: Design and optimize database schemas and queries using MS SQL Server; manage ETL processes using tools like Kettle or Talend.

• Operational Excellence: Oversee batch processing and job scheduling (e.g., Tidal), ensuring system reliability through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and dependency management.

• Client Advisory: Apply a consulting mindset to solve complex technical challenges and manage stakeholder expectations in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

Required Technical Skills

• Programming: Expert proficiency in Java OR C#.

• Data & Integration:

• Strong experience with XML/XSLT.

• Proficiency in MS SQL Server.

• Hands-on experience with APIs and Web Services.

• Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Kettle, Talend).

• Messaging & Middleware: Practical knowledge of messaging platforms such as MQ or Kafka.

• Batch Processing: Experience with job scheduling tools (e.g., Tidal) including troubleshooting and managing complex dependencies.

Domain Expertise (Critical)

• OMS/CRIMS: Proven experience with Charles River IMS (CRIMS) or other major Order Management Systems (OMS).

• Workflows: Deep understanding of trading workflows and investment management operations.

Soft Skills & Mindset

• Consulting Mindset: Ability to act as a technical advisor, providing solutions rather than just code.

• Problem Solving: Analytical thinker capable of debugging complex, distributed systems.

• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively manage client expectations and collaborate with global teams.

Eductaion: 

• Bachelor's or Master's in any field
