Your work profile
- The consultant bridges the gap between complex global chemical regulations and IT infrastructure.
- They collaborate with corporate regulatory affairs, chemical logistics, and supply chain teams to automate the tracking of hazardous substances, manage product risk, and safeguard legal marketability.
Key skills required; -
- Specification Management: Define data models, property trees, value assignments, and inheritance rules for chemicals, compositions, and mixtures.
- Phrase Management: Set up and maintain standardized, multi-lingual phrase libraries used for legally mandated text on safety documentation.
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS): Configure end-to-end SDS authoring, revision workflows, and automated distribution channels across global regions.
- Dangerous Goods (DG) Management: Map transportation regulations to automate compliance checks during sales order creation and delivery processing.
- Substance Volume Tracking (SVT): Establish monitoring thresholds to calculate and block transactions if regional import/production volumes violate statutory limits (e.g., TSCA, REACH).
- WWI Template Customization: Build and modify complex Windows Word Integration (WWI) document layouts utilizing conditional logic and formatting rules.
- Ruleset Execution: Set up and optimize SAP Expert rulesets to calculate standard regulatory classifications based on product compositions.
- Server Maintenance: Monitor and configure system-level tools including Generation PCs (GenPC) and Expert application servers.
- Data Ingestion: Lead regulatory master data updates using Open Content Connector (OCC) or automated data migration tools.
- Ensure seamless data handshakes with SAP Material Management (MM) for raw material specifications.
- Integrate logic with Sales and Distribution (SD) and Transportation Management (TM) to legally block non-compliant shipments.
- Connect with Production Planning (PP) and Quality Management (QM) to ensure safety data matches active factory batches.
- Guide clients through Fit-to-Standard (F2S) workshops during greenfield S/4HANA transformations or ECC conversions.
- Map "As-Is" operational workflows to "To-Be" optimized architectures.
- Author detailed functional specification documents for custom development (RICEFW objects).
- Execute Unit Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) defects.
Education & Experience
- Degree: Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar
- Experience: Typically requires 3–8 years of hands-on SAP EHS functional consulting experience.
