Work Profile
- Provide expert advice on electricity sector regulations, policies, and legal frameworks.
- Support tariff petitions, tariff analysis, and tariff determination processes.
- Review and analyze Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) regulations, tariff orders, and regulatory filings.
- Assist utilities in preparation and submission of petitions before Electricity Regulatory Commissions.
- Conduct regulatory impact assessments and policy analysis.
- Review Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Transmission Service Agreements (TSAs), and other regulatory documents.
- Advise on issues related to open access, power market regulations, renewable energy integration, ancillary services, and grid codes.
- Support regulatory compliance for generation, transmission, and distribution utilities.
- Analyze Electricity Regulatory Commission orders and recommend implementation strategies.
- Provide advisory support on licensing, standards of performance, consumer protection, and quality of supply regulations.
- Prepare regulatory reports, policy papers, consultation documents, and technical presentations.
- Coordinate with Central and State Electricity Regulatory Commissions, utilities, ministries, and other sector stakeholders.
- Monitor changes in electricity laws, rules, regulations, and market developments.
- Assist in capacity building, workshops, stakeholder consultations, and regulatory training programs.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Master's degree in Power Systems, Energy Management, Electrical Engineering, Economics, Public Policy, Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Additional certification or specialization in power sector regulation, electricity markets, or energy economics will be an advantage.
Skills
- Strong understanding of electricity sector reforms and regulatory frameworks.
- Minimum 3-4 years of professional experience in the power sector.
- At least 2 years of experience in electricity regulation, tariff determination, regulatory affairs, or policy advisory.
- Knowledge of tariff principles and cost-of-service methodologies.
- Familiarity with electricity markets and power trading mechanisms.
- Understanding of transmission and distribution regulations.
- Experience with MYT regulations and tariff modeling.
- Knowledge of renewable purchase obligations (RPO), energy storage, and grid integration.
- Familiarity with power sector financial analysis.
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities
