You will work as part of a team of Health Finance specialists, supporting Clients to solve their most difficult financial challenges. The work is complex, demanding and challenging, but also incredibly interesting and fulfilling. We work across a range of capability areas including but not limited to; operational, productivity and financial improvement; financial assessment and planning, understanding cost and income drivers; financial governance; mergers and acquisitions, financial management, capital planning and delivery, grip and control, procurement and non-pay assessment, cost reduction planning and delivery; new models of care and transformation, target operating model development and implementation; corporate services transformation and programme delivery.

As a Senior Consultant/Manager, you will play a pivotal role in all stages of our client engagements, from initial proposal development and research to solution design, implementation, and impact assessment. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and delivering strategy and transformation projects for Health clients nationwide.
• Leading transformation of our Public Sector clients core business and operations by helping them prepare for growth, embrace the digital agenda and maximise their operational efficiency by delivering future-ready solutions.
• Conducting thorough research and analysis, leveraging data-driven insights to inform strategic recommendations and design proposals.
• Designing and facilitating engaging workshops and meetings, effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
• Generating financial and analytical insight: executing rigorous and insightful analysis to build an evidence base to support strategy development and change.
• Developing compelling presentations and reports that clearly articulate findings, recommendations, and potential impact.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with client stakeholders, acting as a trusted and influential advisor.
• Proactively supporting and contributing as part of a high performing project team, identifying solutions, communicating and managing risks and opportunities to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members (grade dependent), fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
• Contributing to business development initiatives, including proposition development, proposal writing and client presentations.
• Harnessing innovation: helping clients to stimulate innovation, adapt to strategic disruptions (e.g. technology – AI/ robotics), and enable more effective policy delivery.
• Proactively keeping informed of best practice, industry news and key topics to deliver value as a trusted advisor.

You will demonstrate:

Essential

• Professional finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or equivalent. Part qualified or newly qualified accepted for Senior Consultant role
• Prior experience of working in the NHS in a financial role, OR experience of working in a healthcare related consultancy role
• Strong financial technical expertise in the healthcare sector
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to carry out analysis and generate insights and recommendations.
• A logical and methodical approach to analysis and problem solving, with an ability to think laterally and build and challenge business cases
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• A proactive and hands-on approach to working with clients to resolve problems
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing)
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organisation.
• Have a proven record of building strong relationships with others to reach successful outcomes.
• Interest in AI and how it can be used to transform delivery and client outcomes.

Desirable

• Proven ability to lead, manage, and work effectively in teams
• Deep understanding of NHS organisational structures and experience of key financial topics, with examples including but not limited to funding and commissioning arrangements; income and contracting; provider organisation financial management, capital planning, financial recovery; and awareness of current sector challenges
• Understanding of business and technology trends impacting finance
• Commercial acumen
• A strong public sector network
• Experience and knowledge of prompt writing and using AI to enhance efficiency and productivity across back-office or operational departments

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm). You’ll be based in Birmingham, London, or Manchester with hybrid working.
