Within this context, the CTS Product Expert (REQ-10118133) acts as a subject matter expert within Client Tax Services (CTS), providing deep and specialised tax expertise to support the CTS organisation and the CTS CoE & Oversight Lead, contributing to governance, execution, and knowledge development across global operations.
The team
Financial Crime & Fraud Prevention (FCFP) is part of COO and is a first line of defense organisation. FCFP leads the standardisation of related processes, enhanced controls, shared tooling, and optimisation of operations across all business lines, contributing to a robust Financial Crime Prevention & Fraud environment and ING’s response towards regulatory requirements while delivering customer value.
Within Global FCFP, services include Customer Due Diligence, Transaction Monitoring, Screening, Client Tax Services and Fraud Services, supported by global functions that ensure effectiveness, excellence, and oversight.
Global Client Tax Services (CTS) ensures frictionless client tax compliance for ING and its customers through accurate, timely client tax information sharing and strong global client tax knowledge. CTS simplifies complexity, enabling compliance with client tax regulations by delivering correct and timely tax information aligned with the FCFP strategy and ING’s risk and control framework. It strengthens resilience and future-proof compliance by centralising activities in global hubs and increasing automation of tax reporting and controls.
The CTS CoE & Oversight enables consistent standards, authoritative decision-making, and stronger governance across business lines. As CTS Product Expert, you will work closely with diverse internal stakeholders (CTO/KYC & CTS, Analytics, ING Hubs, 2nd Line, Tax) and external stakeholders (e.g. DNB, ECB, FIU, Ministry of Finance US). You report to the CTS CoE & Oversight Lead and are part of the global CTS Community.
Roles and responsibilities
In this role you will:
Provide subject matter input on defined client tax domains (e.g. FATCA/CRS, US Withholding, DAC6, CESOP, PARP), supporting CTS and country stakeholders with expert analysis and clarification within assigned scope.
Contribute to the translation of tax regulations and policies into operational guidance, standards, and process instructions, working under the direction of the CTS CoE & Oversight Lead.
Support consistent implementation across countries by responding to interpretation questions, assisting with complex cases, and highlighting practical execution considerations.
Identify and escalate execution issues by contributing observations on risks, gaps, and inconsistencies in country execution to the CTS CoE & Oversight Lead.
Support governance, control, and capability development by contributing to audit follow-up, issue remediation activities, and knowledge sharing content for the CTS community.

University or postgraduate (Master’s degree) in a relevant field, enabling strong theoretical foundation in tax, regulation, or related domains.
5–8 years of relevant professional experience in client tax, financial regulation, compliance, risk management, or process design, preferably within financial services, to operate effectively in a complex regulatory environment.
Demonstrated experience interpreting tax and regulatory requirements (e.g. FATCA/CRS, US Withholding, DAC6, CESOP) to provide clear and actionable guidance.
Experience supporting global or multi-country implementations, enabling consistent and scalable execution across locations.
Experience translating regulatory and policy requirements into processes, controls, and standards that can be implemented in practice.
Proven collaboration with governance, risk, compliance, operations, and/or product-oriented teams, balancing services, tooling, data flows, and user needs.
Experience contributing to audit responses, issue remediation, and control improvements within defined scope.
Capability to translate regulation and policy into scalable end-to-end processes, data flows, tooling requirements, and embedded controls.
Strong capability in process design, standardisation, and control embedding across environments.
Ability to apply product thinking, viewing tax processes as end-to-end services delivered to countries, business lines, and customers, balancing regulatory requirements, operational feasibility, data quality, tooling, and user experience.
Solid understanding of NFR frameworks, control environments, and audit expectations.
Structured approach to problem solving, prioritisation, and issue escalation in a global environment.
Capability to translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable, reusable, and user-oriented solutions and guidance.
Strong analytical skills to assess product impact, execution risks, and dependencies across processes, data, and systems.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in matrix organisations without hierarchical authority.
High degree of professional judgement and independence within defined expert scope.
Proactive ownership of content and quality, while escalating appropriately.
