About the Role
As a Property Underwriter based in São Paulo, you'll specialize in understanding and serving the distinct needs of mid-sized businesses, blending technical underwriting expertise with client-facing relationship management. You'll have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our growing middle market portfolio while working with a diverse range of clients and brokers in this important business segment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and assess Property submissions specifically for middle market accounts, evaluating their unique exposures and coverage needs.
- Prepare tailored quotations and structure programs with compelling proposals designed for mid-sized businesses.
- Build relationships through regular broker and client visits to foster strong partnerships.
- Develop strategic approaches to optimize positions on current accounts and cross-sell other lines of business.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Brazilian market insurance landscape including wordings, laws, regulations, and competitive offerings.
- Balance risk and opportunity by making sound underwriting decisions that address the specific challenges of clients.
- Collaborate with risk engineers to evaluate and understand the unique risk profiles.

About You
You're a curious and collaborative professional with strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly attuned to the needs of middle market clients. You thrive on asking questions, searching for solutions, and exploring new ideas that can benefit mid-sized businesses. Growth drives you, and you're excited by the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic global organization while developing your expertise in the insurance market.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (engineering, administration, economics, or related field)
- Minimum 3 years of underwriting experience.
- General knowledge of and/or exposure to other insurance disciplines (contract wording, claims, risk surveys)
- Strong negotiation skills and established network in the Brazilian middle and large market insurance landscape.
These are additional nice to haves:
- Proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Advanced MS Office skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deliverables, implement plans, and conduct thorough analysis for middle market accounts.
- Experience with property portfolio management and optimization.
- Flexibility for occasional business travel to visit clients and brokers.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
