Introduction

ING Wholesale Banking is expanding its Hydrocarbons & New Energies Technical Team in Amsterdam with an experienced Energy Engineer. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply deep engineering expertise to support the financing of complex energy projects across both fossil hydrocarbons and emerging new energy technologies.

The team

The Energy sector is a key pillar of ING Wholesale Banking, where ING maintains a long-term strategic focus and holds a global leading position in Structured Energy Financing. Within this sector, the Hydrocarbons and New Energies (H&NE) team focuses exclusively on (i) fossil Hydrocarbons financing - such as Reserves Based Lending - and (ii) emerging new energy technologies (i.e. bio-fuels and gases, including HVO and Sustainable Aviation Fuel, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration, Hydrogen and e-Fuels), reflecting ING’s commitment to supporting the energy transition.

Job Description

As an intern in Technical Team, you will work closely with experienced engineers, contributing to the technical review of existing transactions and new business opportunities, helping the team advise commercial and risk stakeholders on project risks and bankability.

Requirements

Final-year Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Engineering with active student status throughout the internship period.

Enrolled at a Dutch university and able to remain in the Netherlands for the full duration of the internship; applications from candidates residing outside the Netherlands will not be considered.

Strong interest in the Energy sector and energy transition.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical information.

Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn in a fast-paced international environment.

High proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Team player with a collaborative mindset and a high degree of initiative.
