Senior Property Facultative Underwriter – Drive growth in Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan.
Lead underwriting, portfolio management, and SwiftRe® adoption within Swiss Re’s Asia Pacific team.
About the Role
This is a high-impact opportunity to be at the heart of Swiss Re's Asia Pacific Facultative business. You'll take ownership of a growing Property Facultative book across Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, while also contributing to peak renewals and peer reviews across the broader Asia Pacific region. From originating and pricing complex property risks to driving the adoption of SwiftRe® – Swiss Re's cutting-edge digital underwriting platform – you'll be a key player in delivering sustainable, profitable growth. Your performance will be measured on the bottom line, and your contributions will be visible and valued.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting & Business Development
Grow a profitable and balanced Property Facultative book across Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan; cross-sell, engage, and service brokers and clients with excellence
Serve as the primary underwriting contact for Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan Property Fac business, delivering high-quality, timely service while adhering to underwriting authority and guidelines
Support the development and execution of the Property Go-To-Market strategy, delivering planned portfolio targets and articulating risk appetites clearly to clients and brokers
Proactively manage the portfolio for sustainable profitable growth – monitor external risk trends, steer the portfolio toward profitability targets and Target Liability Profile
Drive business origination and strengthen broker and client relationships; build robust new business pipelines and improve renewal retention to maximize Swiss Re Fac's commercial position
Mitigate volatility and manage line size, exploring alternative approaches to write business profitably while meeting client needs
Ensure disciplined use of pricing and modelling tools , maintaining robust reflection of pricing to exposure and risk quality; proactively improve data transparency and accuracy
Support underwriting peer reviews and audits , and implement audit recommendations diligently
Proactively manage operational risks to ensure ORM compliance; contribute to internal risk reviews and the ORM process
Provide underwriting support to China and other Swiss Re offices and handle ad hoc tasks as required
SwiftRe® Digital Platform
Develop a profitable, diversified, and highly automated SwiftRe® portfolio , improving efficiency and automation within the underwriting control framework
Support the Senior Property Fac Underwriter in steering portfolios for profitable growth; contribute to underwriting parameter setting and optimization of automation and response times
Enhance SwiftRe® functionality , underwriting control, and user-friendliness in close collaboration with the SwiftRe® Product Team
Support product set-up and adapt generic products to local market needs
Ensure timely responses to clients and brokers; handle daily submissions, special acceptances, client queries, and support SwiftRe® client onboarding
Collaboration & Market Presence
Contribute to Swiss Re's market presence by working closely with Treaty Underwriters, Key Account Managers, and cross-functional teams
Provide technical training and advice to Swiss Re clients and internal functions
Liaise proactively with the Claims Team to stay informed on claims trends and client profitability issues
Streamline underwriting processes and workflows and lead or participate in projects as required

About You
University degree; completed ACII or CPCU qualification an advantage
At least 10 years industrial experience, 5 years or more of relevant underwriting experience in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and a good understanding of these markets and products
Good knowledge of all aspects of industrial and commercial property underwriting; experienced in heavy property occupancies and general property underwriting
Experience in writing multi-national programs / automated underwriting platform business, are added advantages
Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, multi-cultural matrix organization

Innovative and comfortable with data analytics and leveraging technology for SwiftRe® underwriting and business development ad added advantage
Excellent English and Mandarin skills, Cantonese language is beneficial
Willing to make occasional business travels
The base salary range for this position will be shared with you during the interview process.
