Principal Software Engineer/Developer – Senior role designing and testing web & API applications at Fidelity in Westlake, TX

Seeking expertise in Java, Python, REST, automation tools, and leadership to drive complex projects onsite.

Position Description

Designs and develops Web applications using Java and Python, analyzes data, and automates application tasks. Develops test strategies for test data, test coverage, and automation solutions. Tests Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) using RestAssured and Karate. Tests and automates Web applications using automation tools -- Jira, X-ray, Cucumber, and Selenium. Uses RestAssured, Postman, and SOAP User Interface (UI) to test and validate REST APIs. Monitors and troubleshoots changes in files and directories, using DevOps Jenkins and Git repositories. Utilizes various databases including Oracle, Snowflake, Postgres, and SQL server for data storage, processing, and analytics. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities

• Participates in architecture design teams.
• Defines and implements application-level architecture.
• Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
• Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
• Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
• Develop comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
• Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
• Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
• Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
• Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
• Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
• Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
• Advise senior management on technical strategy.
• Mentors junior team members.
• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing test automation infrastructure within software development lifecycle. • Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science , Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) implementing test automation infrastructure within software development lifecycle.

Skills and Knowledge

Candidate must also possess :

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing functional, regression, Inter System, End to End (E2E), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) testing using HP Quality Center, SQL Server Management Studio, or SOA Test; and reviewing Test Plan, Test Cases, and traceability metrics to ensure standards are followed, using Test Rail or JIRA.
• DE designing, developing, and implementing automation test frameworks, using Selenium WebDriver, Java, and JUNIT to support and maintain client applications.
• DE conducting Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) testing operations designed for Oracle databases, using TOAD or SQL Server Management Studio.
• DE performing day-to-day quality assurance activities on Web applications, databases, and API validations, using Oracle DB, UNIX, Java, JUnit, and JavaScript.
