Canadian Banking

Canadian Banking is comprised of TD's Canadian personal banking and business banking segments and is the engine of TD Bank representing over 35% of the bank's revenues. Our dynamic, talented and collegial team of legal professionals provide advice about a wide range of legal issues in Canadian Banking. Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

The Senior Counsel, Specialized Finance, provides legal advice and manages legal risk relating to specialized financing segments within TD Canadian Commercial Banking. You will:

Core Accountabilities

Senior specialist role with principal accountability in the areas of strategic and tactical advice, counsel, influence, relationships and oversight, development of others, and special projects

Recognized as a subject matter expert with significant in-depth and/or breadth of expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas

Key relationships are management and senior management

Lead in complex, sensitive, and ambiguous situations

Give advice and support to other counsel

Integrate legal and business needs to identify the need for appropriate policies and procedures within own area.

Strong relationship management capabilities

Engage stakeholders and apply influence to drive strategic initiatives, planning and/or integrating executional activities

Anticipate and frame emerging business trends and risk issues in the broader organizational context as a basis for recommending large-scale product, technical, functional or operations improvements

Serve as a source of expert advice to senior management in field of specialty

Provide leadership guidance, make recommendations and collaborate with business to ensure solutions meet the business needs on a complex project or program

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required (JD/LLB)

Admission to the Bar in good standing and licensed to practice law in a Canadian province

10+ years relevant experience
