The Associate supports the Private Credit Financing Asset Approval Team in reviewing proposed collateral assets, completing loan-level credit analysis, testing compliance with approved facility criteria, and maintaining accurate approval and monitoring records.

The role is designed to build foundational expertise in private credit underwriting, legal documentation, valuation, risk ratings, and portfolio monitoring. The Associate performs defined analytical work under the guidance of more senior team members and escalates exceptions, missing information, and material concerns for review.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical discipline, attention to detail, clear written communication, and the ability to execute multiple assignments accurately and on schedule.  Success in the Associate role is demonstrated through increasingly independent execution of loan-level reviews, consistent identification of material issues, reliable documentation quality, and readiness to assume defined ownership of underwriting and portfolio workstreams at the Associate level.

Key Accountabilities

Loan-Level Analysis and Eligibility Review

·    Collect and organize required underwriting materials, including investment memoranda, financial statements, projections, compliance certificates, valuation information, and credit documentation.

·    Analyze borrower performance, leverage, liquidity, cash flow, capital structure, valuation, sponsor support, and covenant compliance using established templates and methodologies.

·    Test proposed assets against facility-specific eligibility criteria, concentration limits, and documented approval requirements.

·    Identify information gaps, exceptions, and potential credit concerns and escalate them to the assigned senior reviewer.

·    Draft and present credit approval memoranda and respond to questions from senior management and risk stakeholders.

·    Evaluate how individual assets affect portfolio diversification, concentration risk, collateral quality, loss sensitivity, and compliance with the approved facility framework.

·    Lead loan-level reviews for more complex, higher-risk, exception, or watchlist assets.

·    Review and challenge Analyst work product, provide direction on additional diligence, and ensure conclusions are supported.

·    Recommend approval, rejection, valuation adjustment, structural protection, monitoring condition, or escalation based on the completed analysis.

·    Prepare clearly supported analytical outputs for inclusion in asset approval memoranda.

Credit Documentation Review

·    Review credit agreements, amendments, commitment materials, and related documents to extract key terms.

·    Summarize lien position, security, guarantees, maturity, amortization, pricing, covenants, baskets, and other relevant lender protections.

·    Compare transaction summaries and approval materials with governing documentation and flag discrepancies for senior review.

Valuation and Portfolio Monitoring Support

·    Update borrower and portfolio monitoring information using approved data sources and templates.

·    Support valuation assessments and identify facts that may indicate a potential valuation adjustment event or watchlist concern.

·    Conduct valuation analysis, including discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis, comparable company analysis, transaction multiple analysis, enterprise value assessment, debt capacity analysis, and downside scenario evaluation.

·    Track reporting compliance, covenant status, risk-rating changes, portfolio concentrations, and other defined monitoring indicators.

·    Prepare recurring portfolio reports and supporting materials for management and risk reviews.

Controls and Process Execution

·    Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready records of asset reviews, approvals, exceptions, and supporting documentation.

·    Follow established underwriting, approval, valuation, escalation, and recordkeeping procedures.

·    Complete assigned work within transaction timelines and communicate status or obstacles promptly.

·    Support enhancements to templates, databases, dashboards, and workflow tools.

Collaboration and Development

·    Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Origination, Risk, Legal, Clients, Operations, and other stakeholders.

·    Participate in deal and portfolio discussions and incorporate reviewer feedback into work product.

·    Develop technical knowledge of private credit structures, documentation, internal risk concepts, and portfolio financing.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

·    Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

·    3-6 years of relevant experience in leveraged finance, sponsor finance, corporate banking, private credit, investment banking, structured credit, direct lending, restructuring, or a comparable underwriting role.

·    Demonstrated ability to independently assess credit risk, financial performance, capital structures, transaction documentation, and downside scenarios.

·    Experience drafting credit recommendations or approval materials and communicating conclusions to senior reviewers or risk stakeholders.

·    Ability to manage multiple workstreams and coordinate across business, risk, legal, and operational partners.

·    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

·    Strong written communication, organization, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

·    Experience underwriting sponsor-backed, unitranche, first-lien, second-lien, recurring-revenue, specialty-finance, or asset-based lending transactions.

·    Experience conducting valuation analysis, including assessing enterprise value, debt capacity, comparable companies, transaction multiples, and downside scenarios.

·    Knowledge of borrowing base facilities, portfolio construction, collateral eligibility frameworks, valuation, watchlist processes, structured finance, securitization, or fund finance.

·    Experience reviewing junior team work or coordinating transaction workstreams.
