Job Description
As an Operations Controller, you'll monitor and coordinate the real-time operation of ACCIONA's wind and solar assets. Working within a proactive high-performing team, you'll help maximise renewable energy production, maintain network compliance, and support critical operational decisions that keep our assets running safely and efficiently This role offers significant learning opportunities, exposure to the National Electricity Market (NEM), and collaboration with local and international teams across ACCIONA's global operations network. Full training and support will be provided.
Your responsibilities will include:-
- Monitor and oversee 24/7 renewable energy operations from our control centre.
- Respond to operational events and coordinate solutions in real time.
- Analyse system performance and proactively manage operational risks.
- Work closely with AEMO, network service providers, site teams, and global operations teams.
- Support asset restoration, dispatch activities, and generation optimisation.
- Prepare operational reports and maintain accurate system records.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational procedures.
- Develop specialist expertise in power systems, energy markets, and renewable generation operations.
Required Skills and Competencies
We're looking for someone who is proactive, curious, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced operational environment. You will ideally have:
- A degree or technical qualification in Engineering, Electrical, Renewables, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in utilities, power generation, industrial operations, energy markets, or a similar operational environment.
- A sound understanding of electrical, mechanical, or power system principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data driven decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Confidence working with technology, monitoring systems, and multiple applications simultaneously.
- A willingness to work a rotating shift roster including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Also highly regarded:
- Experience in renewable energy operations.
- Experience in control room or shift-based operations.
- Knowledge of electricity trading or market operations.
- Spanish language capability.
In compliance with Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act 2018, this role is defined as critical worker and labelled at ACCIONA Energia as a Privileged Access Worker (PAW). Privileged Access Workers (PAW's) are required to obtain satisfactory results from Acciona's Suitability Assessment prior to commencement, this forms part of our standard pre-employment checks.
