Our platforms operate across on-premise and cloud infrastructures, enabling secure, resilient, and scalable access to UniCredit services through a unified digital payments ecosystem.
What you'll be doing
As part of the Payments & Cash Management team, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of complex, high-impact initiatives across the payments and channel applications landscape. You will:
- Act as a senior leader and delivery owner for large-scale, multi-stream IT and business projects within the Digital Payments domain
- Define and drive project strategy, scope, and delivery approach, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and technology roadmaps
- Lead end-to-end project delivery, from initiation and planning through execution, go-live, and stabilization
- Establish and manage project governance frameworks, including steering committees, executive reporting, and decision escalation
- Coordinate and align multiple internal and external stakeholders, including Business, Technology, Operations, Security, Compliance, Audit, and third-party vendors
- Manage complex dependencies, risks, and issues, proactively identifying mitigation strategies to protect delivery timelines and service continuity
- Oversee financial aspects of projects, including budget planning, forecasting, and cost control
- Drive delivery of major initiatives such as cash management products evolution, regulatory programs, and cloud migration projects
- Ensure seamless transition from project delivery to operations, including readiness, documentation, and post-go-live support
- Promote a collaborative culture, delivery discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team
- Ensure alignment with Architecture, Security, and Risk functions for cloud and hybrid solutions, while retaining end-to-end delivery accountability
- Contribute to the development of delivery standards and methodologies, operating within agile, waterfall, or hybrid models as appropriate
- Coach and support junior delivery leads, fostering high performance and accountability
What you'll need to succeed
8+ years of experience in project or program management, with a strong track record of delivering complex IT initiatives Proven experience managing large-scale, mission-critical projects within banking, payments, or financial services Strong understanding of payments, transaction banking, and/or financial messaging environments Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, cross-functional teams, and senior stakeholders Extensive experience with project governance, risk management, and executive-level reporting Solid understanding of the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, including regulatory and operational constraints Experience working with agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery models, selecting the most appropriate approach per initiative Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior management level Highly structured, proactive, and results-driven mindset Degree in Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience English proficiency (minimum B1)
Preferred / Nice to have Experience delivering ISO 20022 transformation programs, payment modernization, or regulatory initiatives Exposure to cloud migration, platform modernization, or large-scale infrastructure transformation programs Project or program management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum) Familiarity with ITIL-based operational and service management processes Experience managing vendors and system integrators Additional European language (e.g. German) Experience operating in international, matrix-driven organizations
