VP, Engineering Lead, WRB Tech (Lending) – leading high‑quality tech delivery in wealth management.
Based in Bukit Jalil KL, this senior role blends strategy, architecture, and people leadership.
Job Summary
As an Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing delivery of high‑quality, innovative products and solutions. Your role will involve strategic planning, technical leadership, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to drive the development of scalable and reliable systems.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
Align technical solutions with strategic organisational goals and long‑term vision.
- Lead and implement detailed technical solutions for complex, organization‑wide projects including end‑to‑end holistic solution design (interfacing systems).
- Develop and drive application strategy and roadmap in collaboration with Domain Tech Lead and Hive leadership, ensuring alignment to business, enterprise architecture, and technology standards
- Provide high‑level analysis for planning, and initiatives implementation approaches.
- Act as an expert in solution sizing, estimation, and project forecasting
- Support audit reviews and exercises.
- Own Solution Intent (SI) and application design artefacts, ensuring completeness and quality across eSDLC lifecycle
Business
- Act as hands‑on technical authority and expert in resolving complex technical and design issues across squads
- Promote engineering craftsmanship and drive strategic business value.
- Collaborate with PO and support backlog sequencing, refinement and rationalisation from a technical lens
- Oversee technical delivery and excellence across multiple squads or hives.
- Ensure backlog enables independently shippable increments and reflects both functional and non‑functional requirements
- Balance trade‑offs across technical debt, risk/regulatory priorities, and feature delivery while maintaining low cost of change
- Knowledge on Wealth Management domain, Wealth Digital Products and technology, particularly Wealth Portfolio Lending domain would be added advantage.
Processes
- Improve engineering processes to drive efficiency and collaboration.
- Proactively identify cross‑hive / cross‑squad dependencies and risks ahead of planning cycles and drive mitigation plans
- Drive reusable, scalable, and interoperable solutions aligned to enterprise standards and existing investments
- Define frameworks and standards for product.
- Actively contribute to process improvement and innovation
- Collaborate with IT Change and Release Managers to develop strategic delivery and release plans with technical dependencies.
- Ensure high‑level technical consistency of solution with business and enterprise technology standards.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within squads.
- Monitor and act on squad performance metrics (predictability, quality, sentiment) to drive continuous improvement and value‑based delivery
People & Talent
- Able to work with cross functional team.
- Able to influence technical adoption by squad teams
- Lead engineering community engagement, knowledge sharing, and internal technical workshops; actively promote innovation and adoption of emerging technologies
Risk Management
- Mitigate technical risks and ensure high‑quality delivery.
- Ensure compliance with application security and regulatory standards.
- Manage technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Support required solution to achieve Elevated Residual Risk (ERR) Treatment plan
- Proactively identify and address potential risks.
- Ensure alignment with security controls and collaborate with Security Champions to identify and implement required controls
- Own security impact assessments and ensure all technology risks are assessed and mitigated prior to release
Governance
- Ensure product and solution development is aligned with enterprise architecture and standards.
- Maintain consistency in technical practices across squads.
- Lead governance of application/platform‑specific technical standards.
- Ensure full compliance with System Delivery controls across requirements, architecture, development, testing, resilience, operations, and release management
- Represent and present solutions to Architecture Review Forum and Domain Tech Council to drive formal architecture approvals
- Provide formal governance attestation for each production release in accordance with technology risk and control requirements
- Own review and approval of Solution Intent artefacts (eSDLC Chapters 1–3) prior to architect approval
- Ensure API design (secure, scalable, well‑documented) and microservices architecture adhere to enterprise standards

Qualifications
- Education – Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
- Certifications – Relevant certifications in software development, project management, or Agile methodologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, PMP, Certified ScrumMaster)
Skills and Experience

- Proven experience in managing and delivering complex technical projects in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring quality and timely delivery.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies.
- Capability to coordinate and collaborate with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
- Specific examples of past project management successes, demonstrating effective leadership and delivery.
Technical Skills
- Strong engineering background with extensive experience in delivering high‑quality technical solutions in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to interact with APIs, databases, and other technical components.
- Proficiency in understanding code and its implications on the system, enabling effective technical conversations and decision‑making.
- Knowledge of modern software development practices and tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills honed through years of practical experience in the field.
- Ability to think critically and make sound technical decisions under pressure.
- Experience in identifying, diagnosing, and addressing complex technical problems.
- Capability to balance short‑term fixes with long‑term solutions, leveraging past experiences to guide decisions.
Technical Aptitude
- Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices in architecture.
- Ability to design scalable, reliable, and secure solutions based on extensive industry experience.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, version control systems).
- Experience in setting up and maintaining engineering practices to high standards, with tangible examples from previous roles.
