Title and Location

Application Development Lead, Assistant Vice President, State Street Investment Management Location: Krakow, Poland Description: State Street Investment Management (formerly State Street Global Advisors) is looking for an Application Development Lead, AVP to join our Global Funds Management (GFM) Engineering team within the Chief Operating Officer (COO) organization. This is an opportunity to take a leading role in building modern, business-critical technology that supports investment management operations on a global scale. In this hands‑on technical leadership role, you will shape application architecture, guide solution design, and contribute directly to complex development workstreams while promoting engineering quality, collaboration, and operational excellence. You will work on new software development in a senior engineering environment, partnering with technology and business stakeholders to deliver business-critical applications in financial services. Experience in financial software—or a strong interest in financial markets—will help you succeed in this role. This role follows a hybrid working model , requiring three days per week onsite at our Krakow office. Eligible employees may benefit from the Copyrights Tax Deduction Program , which allows qualifying creative work, such as software development, to be treated under preferential tax-deductible cost rules in line with Polish tax regulations and internal company policy.

Key Responsibilities

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred Minimum 4   years of software engineering experience delivering large-scale, distributed enterprise applications using: Java and/or Python, Spring Boot, and Microservices Experience designing and deploying applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Strong SQL skills and hands‑on experience with relational databases Strong object‑oriented design expertise, including design patterns, SOLID principles, and modern engineering best practices

Considered an advantage

· Practical experience with AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)

Minimum Salary

Minimum Salary: zł182 004 Annual The minimum salary quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate ultimately works outside of this primary location, the applicable minimum salary may differ.  Salary will be determined based on factors such as the position, type of work performed, individual skills, job description, working hours, diligence, initiative, self‑management, length of employment, availability, and the quantity and quality of work delivered, as well as other objective and non‑discriminatory criteria relevant to State Street employees.  In addition to salary, employees are eligible to be considered for discretionary annual performance‑based awards.
