Job Description:

Job Summary

• Evaluate and recommend/approve new applications, increase in limits and annual reviews for approval submitted through various channels i.e. Branches, dedicated and direct sales channels for retail banking and/or business banking products 

• Work with various stakeholders including Product, Policy, Sales and Operations closely

• Participate in system enhancement and changes and perform testing and verification

• Participate in process change discussions and implementations

• Ensure that the department’s Service Quality and Key Control Standards are complied with. 

• Ad hoc reporting and other duties assigned from time to time. 

• Engage in regular discussions to drive operational efficiency and knowledge sharing. 

• Proactive and independent assessment of applications and fraud awareness 

• Effective management of work and ensuring performance within expected turnaround time 

• Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct

• Good understanding of the role requirements and ensure that these are well understood reflected in internal procedures.

• Identifying and escalation of all exceptions on non-compliance with standard controls

Key Responsibilities

Business  • Work with stakeholders including Product, Policy, Sales and Operations closely.  Participate in system enhancement and changes and perform testing and verification 

Processes  • Evaluate and recommend/approve new applications, increase in limits and annual reviews for approval submitted through various channels i.e. Branches, dedicated and direct sales channels for retail banking and/or business banking products.   

Risk Management  • Ensure no quality issues and regulatory issues  Timely escalation of exceptions on non-compliance with standard controls 

Governance  • Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct  Good understanding of the role requirements and ensure that these are well understood reflected in internal procedures. 

Regulatory & Business Conduct  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.   • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalation, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate

3+ years of relevant working experience in Banking domain 

Ensuring accuracy on credit checks, understanding of MAS 632 & 645 policies 

Financial Analysis - Reviewing income, debt to income ratio and credit worthiness etc 

Risk Assessment - Identifying and mitigating risks in Mortgage Lending 

Understanding of regulatory guidelines related to Mortgage underwriting 

Understanding underwriting guidelines and policy rules 

Understanding of product features of Mortgage 

Role Specific Technical Competencies 

Understanding of guidelines related to Mortgage Lending underwriting 

Understanding underwriting guidelines and policy rules 

Understanding of product features of Mortgage Lending
