The role has a direct reporting line to General Manager of Macau Branch and a dotted line to the Chief Risk Officer of Prudential Hong Kong / Prudential General Insurance.

S/he is a key member of the Macau Branch leadership team and supports the General Manager in delivering the risk management and compliance frameworks to address market, conduct, credit, insurance, operational, regulatory compliance, business environment and strategic risks. S/he will implement a robust compliance and risk framework, and a strong risk culture, across the company by providing independent review, reporting, challenge and counsel on compliance and risk matters.

Job Responsibilities

Lead the Branch risk and compliance functions to ensure they are appropriately resourced and structured, and that the risk management and compliance frameworks operate effectively. Ensure the implementation of risk and compliance strategies in the Branch are in accordance with Head Office requirements.

Manage, lead and enhance key regulatory interactions / relationship for the Branch.

Embed and perform risk / compliance-based decision making into the Branch’s key decision and approval processes and consider Macau regulatory regimes.

Support the Chief Risk Officer of Prudential Hong Kong / Prudential General Insurance to ensure appropriate management information and key issues are provided to the Management Risk Committee, organise and support relevant Board committees and Head Office leadership forums.

To promote the development of a risk management culture, resources and processes across the Company including the training and development of specialised risk management resources.

Develop an effective relationship with the Head Office Function and participate in ongoing development / improvements to the risk and compliance frameworks.

Job Requirements

Bachelor / Master’s Degree in relevant discipline such as Laws and Risk Management

Fully qualified solicitor of Macau SAR / HKSAR is preferred

Relevant professional qualification/s in legal, compliance or risk management is desirable

In depth knowledge and understanding of legal, risk and compliance with a minimum of 15+ years’ experience in legal / risk management / compliance, preferably in insurance

Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation and facilitation capabilities

Strong strategic and implementation skills. Bias for action and results driven

Proven track record of success in people management and leadership skills

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with senior executives

Proven negotiation and influencing skills with multiple stakeholders and senior executives

Meticulous with a strong risk management mindset

Ability to multi-task, and be flexible, adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Self‑motivated, proactive and able to work independently

Ability to work with diverse personalities, cultures and business practices inherent to an international organisation

Proficiency in MS Office

Excellent command in written and spoken Cantonese and English is essential

Resident of Macau SAR is preferred
