As a Software Engineering Manager within PNC's SRC First Response organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX, Birmingham, AL, Phoenix, AZ or Denver, CO.

Provide after-hours operational leadership and on-call support. Participate in an on-call leadership rotation supporting critical production services, major incidents, and high-severity customer-impacting events. Availability outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required to support incident response, change events, escalations, and business continuity needs.

Travel occasionally for offsite meetings or other business-related activities (less than 5% travel)

Observability & Troubleshooting Tooling

Candidates should be comfortable leveraging these tools to correlate events, analyze system behavior, and accelerate incident resolution.

Leadership & Management Skills

At least 5 years’ experience leading teams with increasing levels of responsibility over time

Proven ability to:

Experience delivering projects and initiatives from inception through execution

Ability to maintain composure and lead effectively during high-stress incidents or outages

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

Strong root cause analysis discipline—not just resolving issues but identifying underlying causes

Ability to apply 2nd and 3rd order thinking, including:

Proactively identifies and addresses systemic weaknesses that enable incidents

Focus on preventing regression through process, tooling, and architectural improvements

Systems Thinking

Ability to understand complex cause-and-effect relationships across distributed systems

Evaluates problems in a broad, end-to-end context, rather than in isolation

Recognizes patterns across incidents and environments to drive strategic improvements

Ability to adapt communication style based on audience (technical teams, leadership, business stakeholders)

Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially during incident situations

Manages development projects, development teams and application support functions.

Oversees multiple application programming and analysis projects which include development, installation and maintenance of application programs.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $110,110.00 – $204,490.00

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
