Job Description

Job Title: Regional Tax Specialist

Corporate Title: Vice President

Division: Finance

Location: Singapore

Function Overview

Nomura is looking for an experienced tax professional to join and be a key contributor to an existing regional tax team as well as the global tax management group. The candidate will typically be already operating in a tax advisory capacity in the Asia region across all areas of Wholesale Banking.

The candidate should have demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders, together with sound analytical and tax technical skills. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely alongside the Regional Head of Tax to achieve key objectives of Group Tax. The candidate should have demonstrated an ability to respectfully challenge the status quo, but at the same time ensure that all tax risks undertaken are managed within the firm’s tax risk appetite.

Responsibilities

The role will assume responsibility to provide tax compliance and advice to the front office on various transactions in the Global Markets space. This includes:

Requirements

10+ years of work experience in the tax area from within an international accounting firm, or financial institution.

Qualified Chartered Accountant or CPA or Other equivalent professional accounting qualification

Experience working in indirect tax skills, advisory or transfer pricing

Good analytical and communications skills, excellent problem solving ability, and ability to work with diverse groups;

Must be able to work well under tight deadlines and handle multiple responsibilities;

Strong self-starter, pro-active and team player;

Knowledge of corporate tax , indirect tax and transfer pricing principles for Asia Pacific region

Ability to manage special projects, transitioning these to business leaders as appropriate
