Purpose of the role

Deliver exceptional sales and business performance by acquiring, developing and maintaining highly proactive, long term client relationships. Protect Barclays reputation through sound risk decisions by managing client group within their risk profile and appropriate regulatory framework.

Accountabilities

Manage and grow client relationships and acquire new clients - identifying and managing solutions to meet a wide range of client needs. Establish a sound understanding of the strategy of the clients in their portfolio through regular proactive contact, responding to client / prospect queries and requests and identifying opportunities that will deliver long term commercial reward. Manage operational, reputational, financial crime and credit risk for the portfolio to avoid exposing Barclays to undue risk. Ensure all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework  and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards Service/group relationships - referrals to group colleagues.

Join us as a Senior Wealth Planner, where you’ll take a leading role in helping clients shape their financial future through thoughtful planning and investment advice. You’ll work with new and existing clients to understand their long‑term goals and offer bespoke solutions that support their financial and lifestyle needs. Your knowledge will help clients feel informed, supported, and empowered in the choices they make. This role is part of our Wealth Management Business, a growing area for the bank. We’re expanding our ability to support clients with investable assets up to £3 million and help close the Advice Gap in the UK. As part of our broader Affluent segment, this planning‑led proposition offers clear and accessible investment options shaped around each client’s needs. Clients benefit from a seamless experience that blends digital channels with adviser support, creating a connected and supportive journey. You’ll build lasting relationships by listening with care, offering specialist guidance, and tailoring planning strategies to each client’s journey. You’ll collaborate with our Wealth Acquisition team to welcome new clients and ensure a smooth transition from prospect to invested customer. You’ll also work across teams to deliver a consistent and seamless experience. As a Senior Wealth Planner, you’ll be part of a forward‑thinking environment. You’ll use digital tools to enhance client engagement and stay connected to market trends. You’ll be encouraged to share ideas, refine your approach, and contribute to a culture that values integrity, inclusion, and high standards. To be successful as a Senior Wealth Planner, you should bring:

A financial planning qualification at RDR Level 4 or above, including certification in advising on packaged products. Experience offering personalised planning and investment advice, with a solid understanding of financial markets, products, and regulations. Ability to use digital tools to support client conversations, along with thoughtful communication that builds trust. A careful approach to identifying and managing risk, while maintaining high standards of compliance.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

Experience working with internal teams and external networks to grow client relationships. Broad knowledge of the Financial Services industry, especially in retail regulated products and asset management. Familiarity with pensions, investment advice, and UK taxation. FCA‑approved status and experience managing risk within a client portfolio. Adaptability and curiosity in a fast‑changing environment.

This role is based in Southampton, Bournemouth or Guildford

This role is deemed as a Certified role under the PRA & UK Financial Conduct Authority - Individual Accountabilities Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
