ACCIONA Energía is seeking a Lead PV Solar Technician to lead site technicians and drive operational excellence at our Union Solar Farm. This role ensures safe, reliable operations while maintaining solar and energy storage systems at peak performance. The Lead PV Solar Technician serves as the highest level of technical expertise on-site, providing mentorship and oversight of site personnel.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor site personnel, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to safety standards.
- Serve as the site representative to all employees, visitors, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety analyses and ensure proper use of PPE, and lead emergency response efforts.
- Perform and oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of PV systems, inverters, battery storage, substations, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Support commissioning, testing, installations, and performance optimization of solar and storage systems.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills and Competencies
Qualifications: 2–4 years of experience in solar, renewable energy, or a related electrical/mechanical field, with demonstrated leadership experience. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams in a fast-paced outdoor environment. Experience with high-voltage electrical equipment and mechanical systems, including knowledge of electrical theory, power electronics, substation equipment, and control systems. Proficient with hand and power tools, electrical test equipment, and capable of reading schematics, one-line, and wiring diagrams Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and operational software systems. Willingness to travel and work overtime, night shifts, and rotating schedules as needed. Hold a high school diploma or equivalent (technical degree preferred), a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a U.S. passport.
Pay & Benefits
- Base Pay: $42-$48/hour (based on experience, education, and skillset) plus on-call pay.
- 5% Annual Performance Bonus (based on individual performance and company metrics) and 5% Availability Bonus.
