Role

As a Graduate Intern, you will support the development of intelligent agents that enhance Non-Financial Risk (NFR) management within ING NL. This internship offers hands‑on experience in applying advanced data science, AI, and automation techniques to real‑world risk challenges in a highly regulated banking environment.

The team

You will join the NFR NL team within the CRO NL domain, based in Amsterdam. The team focuses on managing and improving ING NL’s NFR reporting, processes and frameworks, including areas such as IT risk and operational risk. ING’s NFR function focusses on Cyber Security, Operational Resilience, Fraud management, Physical Security and all other areas that are linked to people, systems, processes and/or external events.

Key Responsibilities - Agent Development & AI Solutions

Design and develop agent‑based solutions to support NFR processes with Co‑Pilot

Key Responsibilities - Prototype and validate new approaches for automation in risk management

Prototype and validate new approaches for automation in risk management

Key Responsibilities - Data Analysis & Process Improvement

Analyze and process structured and unstructured data relevant to NFR domains

Translate and identify business problems into data‑driven solutions

Key Responsibilities - Research & Innovation

Stay up to date with the latest developments in AI, agents, and data science

Support knowledge or training sessions on AI within the different NFR teams

Key Responsibilities - Collaboration

Work closely with NFR experts, IT teams, and other stakeholders in ING NL and within Group NFR departments

Present outcomes, demos, and recommendations to the management team

Qualifications

Master student in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field

Experience with machine learning, data analysis, or AI/LLM frameworks

Experience working with Microsoft Co‑Pilot

Experience with prompt engineering and building agents

Interest in risk management, banking, or regulatory environments

Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills

Good communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Proactive, curious, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment

Internship details

Duration: Minimum 6 months (graduate internship)

Location: Amsterdam

Number of hours: 36 hours
