Job Overview
The Investment Banking Associate is an intermediate level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The Investment Banking Associate also serves as an intermediary in trading for clients. The overall objective of this role is to act as a strategic advisor to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the execution of Citi’s Investment Banking business activities
Leverage past investment banking or related experience to enhance M&A execution and capital raising capabilities
Contribute to building Citi’s franchise
Manage and mentor analysts by providing detailed guidance and feedback, managing information flow, and providing credit and exposure information to analyst, as appropriate
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Recommended Qualifications:
5-8 years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration Master's degree in Business Administration
Experience in evaluating corporate transactions and structures
Experience creating financial analyses
Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Experience assisting with client development
Ability to work with teams and track business development (collect research, analyze industry trends)
Series 79 and 63 licenses
Education:
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Leverage past investment banking or related experience to enhance Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) execution and capital raising capabilities and contribute to building Citi's franchise

- ECM
- TMT
- Industrial
- Healthcare & Life Sciences
- Financial Institutions Group
- Natural Resources & Energy
- Consumer & Retail
- Real Estate & Infrastructure
- Education & Government Services
- Automotive & New Energy Vehicles (NEV)
Familiarity with CSRC/Exchanges/SAC rules
Secure and maintain all necessary CSRC licenses (or any other licenses / qualifications as required) for carrying out securities and other regulated activities
Support end-to-end execution of M&A, ECM, and strategic advisory transactions under the guidance of VPs and Directors
Build and maintain financial models including DCF, trading comparables, precedent transaction analysis, and LBO models
Prepare pitch books, information memoranda, management presentations, and regulatory filings
Conduct industry and company research, competitive benchmarking, and sector-specific due diligence
Coordinate with legal, accounting, and other advisors across multi-party transaction processes
Assist in drafting CSRC/exchange submissions and regulatory documentation for onshore transactions
Preference for HK SFC Type 6 licenses / qualifications
