The Opportunity
We're looking for a Java Engineer to help design, build, and support advanced business applications within ING's Wholesale Lending domain.
This role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, offering the opportunity to influence architecture, drive engineering improvements, and ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of mission-critical systems.
What You'll Do
- Own and support critical applications across the Wholesale Lending landscape.
- Design, develop, and enhance scalable Java-based solutions.
- Drive technical improvements, engineering best practices, and team-wide initiatives.
- Balance feature delivery with platform stability, security, and risk management.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to shape technical solutions.
- Build and maintain secure, resilient, and high-performing applications.
- Contribute hands-on through coding, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
What You'll Bring
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of Java (Java 8 or higher).
- Extensive experience with Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
- Solid understanding of Microservices Architecture and Event-Driven Architecture.
- Strong experience working with Relational Databases (RDBMS).
- Knowledge of software design principles, patterns, and modern engineering practices.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and automated delivery pipelines.
- Strong understanding of secure application design and coding practices.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Ability to lead technical discussions and drive engineering decisions.
- Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders.
- Proven ability to introduce and champion technical improvements.
- Strong focus on system stability, security, and risk management.
- Passion for delivering high-quality solutions and fostering engineering excellence.
