The Bid Operations team manager sets the landscape for excellence in capturing impactful and sustainable opportunities that benefit our customers. They have an excellent understanding of the business development lifecycle and how an impactful, persuasive and compliant proposal can raise our chances of winning.

This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to stand for Bid Management and what is efficient and right for Strada. It requires strong people management and commercial skills.

Management of the bid management function

Liaison with sales, solutions and sales analytics to maintain a pipeline of current and upcoming opportunities at stage 1-2 with proposal and bid requirements. Analysis of the opportunity landscape per geography, solution line or similar to uncover potential opportunities.

To ensure that adequate pre-proposal work is carried out on the majority of proposals, identifying key customer needs and positioning win themes within the submitted content.

To ensure that bid opportunities adhere to Strada’s qualification standards, playbook and opportunity compliance milestones.

To act as a reviewer and quality assurance on proposals prior to submission, as well as a senior sponsor on bid and opportunity pursuits as needed.

To own and present opportunities to senior leadership or partners as needed within Strada’s opportunity pursuit environment (alongside the allocated bid manager).

To ensure that the bid management function has access to company-wide winning content, and to extend this to sales and solutions where possible.

To ensure win:loss debriefs are carried out on closed opportunities to promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Monitoring, leadership and management

Line management of a team of Bid and Opportunity Managers, ensuring strong personnel administration and professional development are in place.

To mentor junior team members (or oversee mentoring) to ensure that support is available as needed.

To embed a culture of professional development within the team, aligned with Global Bid Team and market best practice standards.

To support the Director of Global Bids & Proposals in setting clear, achievable and challenging goals within the bid and opportunity operations function.

Budget, reporting and improvement

To support the Director of Global Bids & Proposals in identifying and managing the budget for bid and opportunity management resources, tools systems training consultancy travel and development.

To report regularly to Strada sales, solution and business leadership on Opportunity Effectiveness. This should include (as minimum) Win:Loss rates and reasons, cost of sales / ROI, deal velocity, attainment to annual goals, revenue and potentials for improvement within the process.

To develop and deliver training, both inside the Global Bid Management team and out to external stakeholders.

To develop a culture of knowledge recycling, embedding Win:Loss, competitive and landscape information into both the pre- and post-bid processes.

To maintain a process library describing core bid and opportunity process documentation.

To take part in the wider Sales Operations and Strada business improvement catalogue as needed.

Stakeholder management

To maintain a portfolio of stakeholder engagement channels to ensure that Bid and Opportunity Management is embedded in sales pipeline and wider Strada business operations.

To act as an escalation point within Bid Operations.

To represent Strada externally at Customer and Partner meetings as needed.

To actively engage with a network of Strada (and external) business stakeholders as needed to monitor the health and potential of Strada Proposals.

Grades and progression

Please note that, as a management role, junior and senior roles are not available within this position. Secondments for suitable candidates may be considered.
