Assistant Manager, Marine (General Insurance)

Assistant Manager – Marine (General Insurance) at AXA Hong Kong & Macau. Lead underwriting and portfolio growth. Drive underwriting excellence, build broker relationships, and achieve operational efficiency in a dynamic insurance environment.

Responsibilities: Underwrite new and renewal Marine Cargo business in line with company guidelines and delegated authority. Manage assigned accounts, ensuring adherence to underwriting standards and risk appetite Assess and mitigate risk exposure, establish technical pricing, and negotiate terms with brokers and clients Contribute to the development and execution of strategies to expand Marine Cargo portfolio, including client retention and new business acquisition Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and distribution partners to support sustainable growth Prepare and support the issuance of quotations, cover notes, invoices, and other underwriting documentation. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all underwriting files and documentation Collaborate with internal teams such as Policy Processing, Claims, Finance, Legal & Compliance, and IT to ensure smooth operations Engage with distribution channels to enhance customer experience and foster business growth Deliver excellent customer service to brokers and clients with timely and professional support Drive continuous improvement in underwriting processes and operational efficiencies Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required Qualifications: Bachelor degree or above; ANZIIF or Senior Associate of ANZIIF preferred Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with strong preference for Marine underwriting expertise Excellent command of written and spoken English and Cantonese Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills Ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet deadlines Demonstrated sense of ownership, responsibility, and attention to detail About AXA Hong Kong and Macau AXA Hong Kong and Macau is a member of the AXA Group, a leading global insurer with presence in 52 markets and serving 92 million customers worldwide.
