Business Overview / Position Objective

Citigroup Global Markets Japan (CGMJ) is seeking a candidate to join its Markets Middle Office organization in our Foreign Exchange Middle Office team (FX MO). This role will have a close interaction with various businesses, mainly the Tokyo-based FX Investor Sales and FX Corporate Sales which deals with FX Products such as FX Spot, Forward, Options, and Exotic transactions. Prior Middle Office experience, especially in FX business is strongly preferred. We are looking for a candidate who is interested in becoming a Middle Office expert, is detail orientated, can communicate well, can work successfully with others as a team, and can take initiative to solve problems & find solutions by working closely with their colleagues, the business and other support and control teams. This person will also need to communicate with client’s Middle/Back Office in Japanese and/or English language to ensure smooth post transaction operations such as sending out preliminary-confirmation and client’s internal trading account maintenance. This person will work closely with the various cross-asset Middle Office teams, the Front Office (primarily FX sales but also traders), IT, Finance, KYC, Operations, and Compliance, and be responsible for ensuring that the trades are captured correctly in the Front Office risk management / trade capture systems, monitoring and ensuring trades are successfully processed, and performing controls & checks which are key Middle Office tasks. The team also interacts daily with other global teams at Citi, as well as across the industry, so the role provides great opportunity for exposure and growth.

Position Responsibilities

Ensure correct trade capturing with trade booking checking, Front to Back reconciliation, identifying operational risk, trade preliminary-confirmation and settlement forecasts

Communication with external Japanese clients on preliminary-confirmation and issue/queries raised

Perform reconciliations, investigate breaks, and ensure that all breaks are resolved accurately and in a timely manner.

Check daily regulatory reports, e.g., Trade repository reporting, and take necessary actions to avoid regulatory breaches

Continually seek ways to enhance existing processes and/or develop robust control procedures for any new requirements identified to ensure appropriate processes are in place.

Work closely and effectively with immediate team colleagues, the business and other support functions to provide a high standard of support to an active FX business & their client.

Timely escalation of issues to senior Middle Office management.

Provide analytical and administrative support to Front Office Sales on FX products

Assist the junior staff when required.

Required Skills and Abilities

Product Knowledge : FX Product knowledge (spot, forward, NDFs, Options) and trade lifecycle are preferred

Communication : Excellent interaction skills to communicate with multi-function departments.

Japanese & English Communication : Advanced to fluent verbal and written English level& Fluency in Japanese language both written and spoken required are must.

Experience : Experience in financial middle office/operations role preferred, or with motivation on career growth in financial operation role

Organization : Strong organization and multi-tasking skills. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities along with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.

Analytical : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to research an issue across sources to identify plans to deliver. A high level of attention to detail. An ability to pick up and learn systems, trade flows and concepts quickly.

Interpersonal : Excellent interpersonal skills to develop relationships both internally and externally to collaborate effectively. Has a good potential for becoming a team leader in the future career and motivate for self-learning, and good team player

Technical Skills : Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred.

Required Licenses

Preferred: JSDA Registered Representative (Internal Control Manager or Class I preferred).
