Role Description
The Reference Data Analyst focuses on effective oversight of strategic data used across the bank’s systems and infrastructure. The role supports various elements of the data lifecycle, including:
- Ensuring data is captured from the best source
- Validating and classifying data
- Operating controls to optimize data quality and maximize coverage
- Maintaining robust processes for data setup, storage, and distribution
- System configuration and participation in projects to streamline infrastructure and improve efficiency
Reference data is integral to the bank’s response to regulatory requirements. Close partnership is needed with stakeholders such as Front Office, Middle Office, Audit, Compliance, and Regulatory.
Reporting to deliver solutions that balance immediate business priorities with long-term strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Data Operations
- Handles data operations and generates reports from data interpretation
- Performs checks to authenticate requests based on documents received (completeness and correctness)
- Processes static requests on various downstream systems as per process guidelines
- Investigates open items/risk items and resolves as required
- Escalates unresolved open items per departmental policy
Process Management
- Data input & approval for account opening/maintenance in downstream systems
- Ensures processing guidelines (KOP) are followed with diligence
- Monitors mailboxes for processing and queries
- Participates in employee engagement activities and team huddles
- Ensures mandatory trainings are completed within timelines
- Plans leaves/breaks in line with process deliverables and updates HR-Workday
- Meets productivity targets (100%) and ensures 2-eye processing within agreed SLAs & 100% accuracy
- Assists in reviewing KOP
Control & Compliance
- Follows account opening/maintenance processes per CAM KOP
- Owns and resolves issues on priority, escalating as per escalation matrix
Change & Improvement
- Identifies automation opportunities to reduce manual intervention
- Works to find and remediate process gaps

Skills & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- 0.6 to 6 years of work experience in corporate banking
- Basic knowledge of banking operations/financial products (fixed income, cash & derivatives, futures, options, swaps)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Good communication skills
- Experience interacting with Middle Office and/or Clients for timely and accurate processing of lifecycle events
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
