Job Overview
The Valuation Control Analyst
The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent team of subject matter experts within the Finance Division. VCG's primary responsibility is to reasonably ensure that risk portfolios are fairly valued in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. In doing so, the team works closely with its stakeholders, including senior management, business heads, product controllers, market risk, regulators, and both internal and external audit.
As part of the team of diverse and supportive professionals, the main tasks are concerned with performing valuation control processes for various businesses within Citi's Institutional Clients Group.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to work within the Valuation Control Group as a finance analyst.
What you’ll do
Perform valuation control related core production: Independent Price Verification (IPV), Valuation Adjustments, Fair Value Levelling.
Own or contribute to tasks relating to reporting, projects or analysis of results and significant matters.
Analyze and reconcile valuation differences between front office marks and independent valuations, providing clear explanations and supporting documentation for discrepancies.
Work with Front Office traders, Risk Management, Markets Controllers and other stakeholders to ensure a complete understanding and proper resolution of valuation issues.
Ensure particular attention is given to the design and execution of controls.
Assist in preparing valuation reports and presentations for senior management, internal committees, and regulatory bodies.
What we’ll need from you
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
- Relevant professional experience of 1-3 years or demonstrated interest in Finance (preferably Valuations, Risk, Product Control, or similar functions).
- Knowledge of, experience with, or a demonstrated interest in financial products and valuation principles. Understanding of financial statements and basic accounting concepts.
- Strong computer literacy, with special regards to Microsoft Excel.
- Fluent English with strong verbal and written communication skills at minimum B2 level.
